Colored bottles, cornhusks and game pieces come together to create a unique Thanksgiving table setting. The cornhusks typically used for making tamales are available in the Mexican section of most grocery stores and are a wonderfully rustic material for creating fall-themed table runners and to dress up serving pieces.

Steps: 1. Separate the corn husks. 2. Place one husk in the center and one on top of the center on each of the two sides. This should resemble a fan. 3. Glue corn husks together using a hot glue gun (figure A). 4. Continue layering the husks until the runner is as long and as wide as you want it to be for your table. Make sure you alternate the curl of the husk, so it lays fairly flat. 5. Place a message down the center of the table runner using assorted lettering. Game pieces (figure B), stamps, or vintage print blocks (figure C) work great for this. If using print blocks or game pieces, coordinate even further by using the same element on napkin rings.
Lettered Napkin RingsOnce your table runner is in place, you're ready to start setting the table. These wire and lettered block napkin rings are easy to create for everyone at the table.
Materials: napkins assorted lettering (lettered game pieces or print blocks) copper wire pliers drill wire cutter
Steps: 1. Drill a hole through the center of letter pieces to accommodate whatever size wire you choose. Choose a gauge wire that is not too fine, or it wont hold its shape as nicely. Tip: Use letters that tie in with a family name or spell out a Thaksgiving message. 2. Run copper wire through hole in the lettered block. 3. Coil the wire on the front side of the letter with a small pair of pliers (figure D). 4. Coil the remaining wire on the backside of the letter around a napkin. Curl the end to finish it off.
Corn Husk Pots Leftover corn husks can be used to dress up serving dishes. Cover containers with corn husks, then fill them with an arrangement of dried goods for a stunning centerpiece.
