    1. Starting at the top of the tub, use low tack painters' tape to make a border. Tape another line about 1" below the first.

    2. Every 1" place a thin piece of tape to create the side borders of your checker board squares.

    3. Paint every other square with your first color, leaving blank squares in between that you will fill in with your second color.

    4. Pull the tape off while the paint is still wet to prevent the paint from lifting. Allow the paint to dry for about one hour.

    5. Using painters tape, mask off the painted squares and fill in the unpainted squares with the second color. Again, pull off the tape before the paint dries to avoid lifting. Allow to dry for about one hour.

    6. Repeat steps 1-5 directly above your first line of squares to create you checker board using opposite colors to fill in each square.

    7. Use a paint pen to trace around each square to clean up each line.

    8. For the bottom stripe repeat the taping technique in step 1 and paint in one solid color. Peel off the tape before the paint is dry and allow the paint to dry for about one hour.

    9. While paint is drying, lay out your magnet paper and trace your stencil or stamp (figure A). Cut out the shape.

    10. Place the solid magnet stencil on your tub and trace (figure B) the image with a permanent marker. Remove the stencil.

    11. Fill the shape in with metal paint (figure C) and continue adding shapes all the way around your tub.

    12. Allow the painted tub to dry for a full 24 hours before exposing it to moisture.

    13. Fill with water and apples, and dive in!
