    • Purchase a foam wreath form at any hobby or floral shop. Be sure to get the kind with a rounded top.

    • Trace the wreath form onto a piece of 1/2" plywood.

    • Wearing safety glasses, use a 7/16" wood bit to drill a pilot hole, then use a jigsaw to cut out the center of the wreath shape on the plywood (figure A).

Safety Alert: Always wear eye protection when using power tools such as a drill or jigsaw.

    • Use the jigsaw to cut around the outside of the wreath shape, leaving a circular shape the same size as the wreath form.

    • Lightly sand the edges of the plywood wreath shape.

    • Brush PVA adhesive onto the wood and the wreath form, line the two items up and press them together firmly (figure B).

    • Cover the wreath with shine by wrapping it in chrome tape (figure C). Start and end each piece of tape on the back (wood) side of the wreath.

    • Smooth and burnish the tape with a paintbrush handle or credit card.

    • Undo the center of a copper pot scrubber and unroll it. One pot scrubber should cover a 12" wreath.

    • Cover the front of the wreath with the copper mesh, using a staple gun to staple it to the edge of the plywood backing (figure D).

    • Spread out beads, buttons, pins, brooches, discarded earrings, colored pins and plain pins. Slip a few embellishments onto a pin, dip the pinpoint into white glue and stick it into the wreath (figure E).

    • Fill the wreath with embellishments. Let a few strings of beads hang off the edges; a few small ornaments also can look great.

    • When the wreath is complete, attach the ends of a necklace to the wreath with pins. Use this necklace as a festive hanger.

    • This wreath isn't just for the holidays – use non-seasonal embellishments to create a year-round circle of kitschy beauty!
