Materials:printer and paper scissors straight pins 1/4 yd. fancy fabric (Use anything crushed flocked, or glitteryupholstery is fine. Avoid knits because they are hard to sewand Jennifer and Victoria think just plain tacky!) 1/4 yd. lining fabric needle and thread 2' seam binding (optional) 2' fancy trim sequins, rhinestones, tassels, embroidery thread, or whatever you want to decorate with Steppin' Out Yarmulke - Print out the pattern and cut it out.
- Fold fancy fabric in half, then in half again, so that you have a four-ply stack. Pin the pattern to the stack and cut it out. You should end up with four separate pieces. Repeat with the lining fabric (figure A).
- Pin sides of two fancy fabric pieces together and sew, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Repeat with other two fancy fabric pieces. At this point you should have two halves. Pin the halves together and sew, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
- Repeat Step 3 with lining fabric.
- Place the lining inside the yarmulke and in place with the wrong sides facing. Pin the seam binding all around the bottom and sew together. Or, for a cleaner look, skip the seam binding and pin the yarmulke and lining together with the right sides facing. Sew a seam all around, 1/4" in, leaving the last inch open. Pull yarmulke right-side-out through 1" opening. Top-stitch if desired. Then pin the fancy trim around the bottom and sew down.
- Decorate with sequins, rhinestones, tassels or embroidery.
