    Rani Robertson sews up a cool Christmas stocking. Using felt and yarn, she adds a light-string design and finishes it off with some quick embroidery.

    Christmas Stocking
    Materials:

    various colors of felt
    fusible interfacing
    1/2 yd. black yarn
    sequins
    embroidery floss
    craft or fabric glue
    pinking shears

    Measurements:

    felt outer stocking (2): 19"x11"
    fusible interfacing (2): 19"x11"
    felt lining (2): 19"x11"

    1. Draw out a pattern on cardboard. Trace the pattern onto the fabric and cut it out (figure A).

    2. Iron the interfacing onto the front and back outer felt pieces.

    3. Decorating the stocking by pinning the designs onto the front outer piece and hand-sewing them with embroidery floss (figure B). Attach the sequins and beading (figure C).

    4. Pin together and sew the sides of the lining. Repeat with the outer form (figure D), remembering to add a loop of ribbon or felt to hang the stocking when it's finished (figure E).

    5. Trim the outer form and lining; then place the lining inside the outer form (figure F).

    6. To complete, hand-stitch the top of the stocking, connecting the lining to the outer form.

    7. Trim the edges with pinking shears to decorate your custom stocking.
