Steps:
1. Take a walnut-sized piece of air-drying craft porcelain and knead until soft and flexible. Roll the clay into a ball and press firmly into a 1-inch flexible face mold. Gently pull back the mold and release the face.
2. Excess clay will have been pushed out beyond the edge of the face. Use this clay to attach the face to the cone of STYROFOAM* Brand Foam. Place the face on the cone about 1 inch down from the top. Press the excess clay around the face directly into the surface of the STYROFOAM* Brand Foam, smoothing the edge of the clay out onto the cone. The clay will adhere to the texture of the STYROFOAM* Brand Foam.
Note: If the clay does separate from the cone as it dries, you can glue it back on with white craft glue later.
3. A few alterations to the clay will make the face more interesting dimensionally. Use a very sharp craft knife to carefully slit a line in the clay along the upper eyelid line. With the very tip of the blade, gently lift up the very bottom edge of the lid just a tiny bit. Use the blunt side of the tip to press in a line along the lower edge of the eye. Use the point of the blade to press the inner and outer corners of the eye ball in slightly to accentuate its roundness.
4. Use the tip of the craft blade to accentuate the nostril openings a bit. Cut a line in the center of the lips and press the corners of the mouth in slightly. Set the face aside to allow the clay to dry thoroughly.
5. Prepare wings from color mesh origami paper. Cut out the wings using the pattern provided. Spread iridescent glue around the edges of the wings. Sprinkle on micro glitter. Set aside on a piece of plastic wrap to dry thoroughly.
6. Paint the fairy face using the photo as your guide. Glue a tad of glitter on the eye lids.
7. Cut the dowel ends at an angle. Paint to match face. Paint on glittery shoes.
8. Use the pattern provided to cut out a covering for the cone from embossed paper. Glue the paper around the cone. Trim around the face opening, if needed, so that the face is fully exposed.
9. Wrap some paper around the arm dowels for sleeves. Glue with white craft glue.
10. Make a little slit in the side of the cone and push the dowel arms directly into the STYROFOAM* Brand Foam. Glue the legs into the bottom of the cone, also.
11. Glue curly chenille around the face, top of the arms, wrists, hem of the dress, and ankles.
12. Thread eye pins through acrylic crystal beads and bend the end into a loop using jeweler’s pliers. Thread the loop onto the end of a second eye pin. Glue the eye pins into the bottom of the cone underneath the curly chenille so that the crystals can swing freely.
13. Glue the lower wings onto the back of the fairy. Glue the top wings overlapping the lower wings slightly. Secure with craft pins until the glue is dry. Glue a star sequin onto each wing.
14. Tie a loop out of 8 inches of cord for a hanger. Make a hole in the very top of the cone. Place a dot of glue into the hole and push the knot of the loop down into the glue. Push a tiny tuft of craft boa into the hole, as well, for a head piece.
15. Glue rhinestones for buttons down the front of the fairy and onto each shoe.
