    1. You can use vintage paper, or if you like a design of a piece of fabric you have, you can make a photo copy of it on a color printer and use it instead. Using a compass, draw a circle the same size as the interior section of the glass plate (figure A), cut it out with scissors and set it aside.

    2. On a small rectangular piece of scrapbook paper, stamp out the word "CAKE" using gold ink pad and alphabet stamps. Cut around the edge with small scallop scissors.

    3. Glue CAKE sign to the center of the decorative side of the paper circle. Using a foam brush, put decoupage on the right side of the image (figure B) and then glue it to the underside center of the plate. Smooth it on real good. The decoupage will look milky, but will dry clear.

    4. Trace the base of the candlestick on the decorative paper and cut out.

    5. Because the base of the candlestick is curved, snip darts all the way around the circle (figure C) to make it easier to fit.

    6. Attach the paper with decoupage gel and foam brush and let dry.

    7. Using Fabri-Tac or hot glue, attach beaded trim to top edge of votive and then add another coordinating layer of trim over fabric edge of glass bead trim (figure D).

    8. Cut a piece of felt (larger than the bottom of votive holder). Using Fabric-Tac glue over decorative paper. Let dry and trim with scissors.

    9. Secure the plate to the base by placing earthquake putty along the rim of the candleholder and press the plate firmly into the putty.
