Purses come out of the closet—and go up on the big screen.
If something looks good, show it off. That's the theory behind this easy display screen from Michele Beschen. The B. Original host brings her prettiest purses out of the closet and stores them out in the open with the help of a clever display screen that started life as a fireplace screen.

It just takes a little wire to turn a mesh fireplace screen into a display screen for purses, accessories or other pretty treasures. Scroll down for Michele Beschen's easy how-to.

    • Michele Beschen recommends picking up an old, freestanding fireplace screen at a flea market, thrift shop or yard sale for this project. If you use a new screen, you can age it by spraying it with vinegar and scuffing it up a bit.

    • Cut off a section of baling wire about 10" long.

    • Starting in the center of the wire, use a pair of pliers to coil the wire around itself (figure A). Keep coiling until you have about 3" of wire left on one end.

    • Bend the straight section of wire perpendicular to the coil and insert it through the mesh screen , from the back, at the desired height.

    • Holding the coil against the screen, bend the long part of the wire down so that it lays tight against the screen. About 1 ½"below the coil, bend the wire back up, forming a hook (figure B).

    • Finish off the hook by making a small loop in the end of the wire.

    • Repeat for as many additional hooks as you desire.

This easy display screen doesn't just work for purses: If it looks good and can hang on a hook, it's fair game. B. Original and see what works best on your fireplace screen display.
