Footstool- Place footstool upside down on tracing paper. Trace the shape of the stool and make allowances for height (figure A) as the carpet will wrap around the stool and be glued to the bottom. Cut out template.
Tip: You can paint the legs of the footstool with acrylic paint to match the color in the carpet. - Use the template as a guide to pick a pretty area of the carpet. Trace template onto the bottom of selected area. Cut out the carpet.
- Apply a generous amount of fabric glue to the top of the stool, and center the rug over the top of the stool. Place the carpet over the edge.
- Cut darts into the area of the carpet that hangs over the stool about every inch (figure B). Spread glue around the edge of the stool top a little at a time, and turn the fabric under and press well so it will adhere.
- Apply Fabri-Tac to the sides of the stool and adhere your trim section by section to the edge of the carpet (figure C) all the way around.
Note: Not only is the trim decorative, it hides the dart cuts you made with the scissors. - Place hot glue onto the buttons and space them around the stool in between the tassels (figure D).
