Make a gorgeous centerpiece using fruit and flowers.
    Fruit and Floral Centerpiece

    Project designed by Katie Killean.

    Materials:

    4-5 bunches red globe grapes
3 Gala apples (or any variety)
5-6 stems or sprigs pink/green hydrangea
    5-6 stems pink sedum
10-12 stems or sprigs pittosporum (with berries if available)
1-2 branch sumac (to stick out of the top)
25 roses (cottage/garden variety if available)
    1 brick of floral foam
    thin green floral tape
    1 footed silver bowl
    wooden wired floral picks
    knife to cut foam

    1. Soak floral foam in a bucket of water and floral food for about 15 minutes or until thoroughly saturated.

    2. Cut floral foam with a knife to fit inside container—leaving about 2" of foam above the top of the container.

    3. Secure the foam to the bowl using floral tape in cross shape.

    4. Cut grapes into bunches and wire stems to wooden picks by winding wire around the grape stems.

    5. Insert grape picks into foam (breaking pick to desired length if necessary), so that the grapes hang off the edge of the container.

    6. Pick apples with pointed end of wooden pick, break the pick to desired length, and insert apple into foam—one in front, one on top , and one in back.

    7. Insert pittosporum stems into foam randomly, but evenly spaced to create nice outline for desired shape of arrangement (tall dome shape).

    8. Insert the roses into the foam. Cut the rose stems on an angle before inserting. The roses are the stars of the arrangement and should be placed in full view on top, in front and center.

    9. Fill in any gaps or spaces where you see foam with the hydrangea and the sedum.

    10. Add a branch of sumac sticking up high a bit to add some interest.

Tip: Add water to the arrangement daily by pouring water from a small nosed watering can into the flowers so the foam can stay wet.
