    Slip-Style Top Bodice Pattern
    Materials:

    pattern pieces (back, bodice, front)
    1 yard fancy fabric (pink)
1 yard complimentary color fancy fabric (gold)
    1 yard thin elastic
    D-rings

    Slip-Style Top

This project takes approximately five hours for the beginning crafter.

    Steps:

    1. Cut fabric using pattern PDFs above. Cut two of the bodice pieces from both fabrics. Cut one 3" x 18" strip from the gold fabric for casing. Cut two of the back pieces and two of the front pieces in both fabrics.

    2. Pin right sides together of the gold and pink bodice pieces. Then sew at a 5/8-inch seam allowance around the neck curve and armholes. Clip curves. Around the curve of the armholes, cut v-shapes and remove triangle-shaped fabric pieces. Around the neck curve, cut straight snips without removing fabric.

    3. Turn bodice right side out and press.

    4. Create ease on bodice to give shape for your chest. Baste stitch 4/8-inch across the lower edge of bodice in between the dots and pull to create a gathering (figure A). Then, repeat steps two-four on the opposite bodice piece.

    5. Attach a set of D-rings to the strap ends.

    7. Create the back of top by pinning the two back pieces along the center back and stitching together. Do this for both the gold and pink fabric pieces.

    8. With right sides together, pin the bodice pieces to the top of the front piece making sure the bodice curve is toward center and matching dots. Adjust the ease of the bodice pieces to fit, then sew at a 5/8-inch seam allowance (figure B).

    9. With right sides of casing to wrong side of bodice, pin along the side seams and stitch together.

    10. With right sides together, pin the front and back of the gold pieces together and sew along the side seams with a 5/8-inch seam allowance.

    11. Slide the pink layer inside the gold layer and stitch around the top edge. Fold in one inch and stitch to create a casing for elastic along the top edge. Then feed elastic through the hole and stitch in place (figure C).

    12. Cut the pink layer to expose the gold layer and serge or hem the hemline.

    13. Finally, add elastic to side seam of pink layer to create bunches and further expose the gold layer beneath.
