Host Vickie Howell embellishes a zip-up sweatshirt with a skull and crossbones felt cut-out.
Materials:zip-up sweatshirt 8"x10" felt sheet paper bag cut out scissors "no sew" ultra heat bond interfacing embroidery thread large-eye embroidery needle
1. Cut a piece of the ultra heat bond into an 8 x 10 inch piece.2. Following the manufacturer's instructions, iron on the piece to the felt. 3. Draw your design onto a paper bag, and then cut it out. Note: You can draw freehand or scan and print your image.
4. Trace the design onto the paper-backed side of the newly interfaced felt piece, and then cut out the felt design (figure A).5. Cut the design in half, and then cut out the face detailing. 6. Lay the felt design onto the sweatshirt on either side of the zipper.
7. Iron the design onto the sweatshirt onto either side of the zipper.Note: Due to the heavy weight of the felt, the ultra heat bond may require additional ironing. 8. Using a large-eye needle and embroidery floss, use the running stitch to embroider around the perimeter of your design (figure B).
