Corduroy Pants PurseMaterials: corduroy pants 1/2 yd. lining fabric purse handles large magnetic snap sewing machine scissors thread pins iron tape measure scrap paper hippie patches 1. Cut the legs off a pair of corduroy pants at the crotch line (figure A). Pull the front and the back waistband around and pin before cutting. When cutting, make sure not to cut the pocket lining.
2. Turn legs inside out and sew across the cut-off edge (sew twice for strength). Use a zigzag or overlock stitch to prevent raveling (figure B).
3. Measure both the inside of the waistband on the pants purse and the length of the purse. Add 1" to the waistband measurement and 1-1/2" to the length measurement; this will be the lining measurement. Cut this rectangle in half. 4. Lay the lining out and place right sides together. Using the measurement determined in Step two, cut out the lining.5. With right sides together, sew up the sides of the lining, using a 1/2" seam allowance (figure C). Next, sew the bottom of the lining. Lastly, fold and iron the top of the lining back 1" (figure D). 6. Place the lining inside the purse with the printed/right side of the fabric facing out. Pin lining in place and secure by topstitching along the top edge of the waistband on the purse. 7. Hand-stitch the handles in place using a heavy-duty thread (figure E).
Optional: Further embellish with fun, hippie-style patches.
