    Mark Stowe's Leather Wrist Cuffs

    • Mark Stowe is a leather artist. He starts creating a cuff by cutting a strap from a piece of hide using a strap cutter (figure A).

    • He created a template for sizing the leather cuffs. The cuffs are cut out and then an edge beveller is used (figure B) to create an angle. He then uses a hole punch to create the holes for the snaps.

    • A saddle groover is used to etch different designs onto the leather. To apply the rivets, a rivet setter poly mallet and anvil are used. A poly mallet is used in leatherwork so that the tools aren't damaged, and they don't bounce like a rubber mallet would.

    • Mark can take a strap of leather and create many unique designs (figure C).
