    10 ties
    lace
1/2-yd. fabric for lining (twill works great)

    Tie Purse

This project takes approximately three to four hours to complete.

    1. Cut two trapezoid pieces of fabric (13" along the top shorter side, 17" along bottom longer side, about 12" tall) and serge or zigzag the edges. The base is the longest side of the trapezoid (figure A).

    2. With right sides together pin the two trapezoid pieces together along the base.

    3. Sew the base of the trapezoid at a 1/2" seam allowance, and press the seam allowance open.

    4. Press 1/2" seam allowance around the remaining sides and stitch in place (figure B).

    5. Pin ties on the wrong side of one of the trapezoid linings with the wide pointy end of the tie hanging off the base of the trapezoid. Overlap the five ties to your discretion (figure C).

Note: When you are arranging your ties, keep in mind that the edges need to match up exactly.

    6. Leaving one end tie intact, trim the tops of the other four ties to create a 1" overlap along the top of the purse.

    7. Topstitch the ties to the purse lining vertically along each tie.

    8. Pin the pointy ends of the ties that are hanging off the base up so they will not get in the way when sewing the ties on the opposite side (figure D).

    9. Repeat steps 5-7 on the opposite side of the purse lining.

    10. Fold in and top stitch 1" excess along the top of the purse on both sides.

    11. Pin the sides of the purse wrong sides together, and topstitch them closed.

    12. Turn the purse right side out.

    13. Pin lace around the mouth of the purse and topstitch (figure E).

    14. With the two full length ties on the one side tie them in a knot at the top to create the purse handle.
