This fuzzy monster chair won't give anyone nightmares!
Materials:1-1/2 yards fake fur in body color 1/2 yard fake fur in ears, hands, tail color thread sewing machine scissors straight pins yardstick marking pen 6 cubic feet packing peanuts (available at office-supply stores) large buttons or doll eyes heavy-duty thread heavy-duty needle 1 sheet newspaper
1. Using the yardstick, marking pen, and scissors, cut a 16" X 16" square from the newspaper to make a pattern. Cut the pattern out of the fur 6 times.2. Fold the 1/2 of fake fur in half (fur side in) and mark freeform ear, tail and hand shapes (figure A). Be as wild as the monster here the crazier the better. Add 5/8" seam allowance to each free form shape.. Cut through both layers of the fabric on the marked lines to make matching sets. Pin in place and sew the ears, arms and tail right sides together leaving an opening at the bottom so you can turn them right side out (figure B). Once sewn, trim away any excess fabric and clip the corners (figure C). Turn right side out.
3. Working on one fur square, attach the eyes, following the manufacturer's instructions (figure D), or sew large buttons to be eyes using heavy-duty thread. This will be the front of the chair.4. Pin the hands to the sides of the front piece so the hands face towards the center (figure E). Pin in place towards the center so that when the cube is finished the hands will pop out of the cube.
5. With right sides together pin four cube sections together and sew each seam to form a box shape using a 5/8" allowance (figure F). 6. With right sides together pin remaining squares to the top and bottom section. Sew using a 5/8" seam allowance. Leave a 10" opening on one side so you can turn the cube right side out. 7. Once sewing is complete, turn the cube right side out and stuff with the packing peanuts (figure G). Hand-stitch the opening closed using heavy-duty thread.
8. Hand-stitch the tail and ears in the desired positions using the heavy-duty needle and thread.
