Custom Candle HoldersMaterials: old lamp bases finials, glass cups, small tins, electrical insulators and/or other heat-proof containers screwdriver 2-part epoxy glue candles
- Look around the house for items that can be used as candlesticks. An old lamp base makes a great starting point for a custom candle holder. They can be very striking and are already designed to sit without tipping over easily.
- Start at the top of the lamp base and remove the socket and all wiring (figure A). Once the socket and wires are disconnected, the rest of the base should come apart fairly easily. Take the base apart until you have the shape you want; make sure the base is flat on top to hold a candle.
- Now, start adding elements back in: Any heat resistant containers, from glass insulators to small tins, can work. Look for items that have a flat top and will support a candle.
- Use 2-part epoxy glue to attach the added items to the candle holder (figure B). Let the glue dry according to package instructions before adding a candle.
