Want to create a special centerpiece without a great investment of time and money? Craft expert Dohki Mirmirani offers a fresh approach that won't break the bank. Materials: 8" round or square wood or firm cardboard box (without a lid) 1 yard fabric Scissors Glue gun Stapler with staples Ribbon or tulle 6" potted plant - Measure the box and cut fabric to fit over the outside. Leave enough at top edge (at least 1-1/2") to tuck inside the box.
- Apply a few dots of hot glue to bottom edge of box surface and begin tightly wrapping the fabric around the box.
- Staple the fabric to inside box at top to secure (figure A).
- Insert a potted plant or a container of live or silk flowers inside the box. Tie tulle or ribbon a few inches from top to create a polished presentation.
