Display your mementos in a "vacation box" like the one Joe Lamancusa created when he went to the Grand Canyon.

When you take a family vacation, your kids inevitably end up with a lot of little keepsakes. Joe Lamancusa, founder and business manager of Visual Design Concepts, turns a plain shoebox into a vacation box for displaying mementos you'll treasure for years to come. Wrap a shoebox with wrapping paper, remembering to wrap the top of the box separately so you can remove it. Spray the shoebox with an all-purpose spray adhesive, and attach the paper. Embellish the box with photo cutouts, paints, postcards or maps. Use paints to add the date and destination of the trip. Joe's vacation box from his visit to the Grand Canyon included an Indian clay pot in which he put memory cards with notes about what he did during the trip. A Florida vacation box displayed seashells on the top. When applying heavy or bulky items to the top of the box, use crafter's cement. Use a glue stick to write the word Florida on top of the box, then sprinkle sand over the adhesive. Joe lined his Washington, D.C., vacation box with postcards and included a reproduction of the Mayflower Compact.
