    Derby-Watching Party Invitations

    Capture the bright and bold look of jockey silks with these colorful, crafty party invitations.

    Derby-Watching Party Invitations
    Materials:

    12"x12" piece of cardstock
    jockey silk template (see link, at right)
    scissors
    cardstock scraps
    ribbon scraps
    8-1/2"x11" ivory cardstock

    Party invitation template: click to enlarge.
    1. Fold the cardstock, place the neckline of the template on the fold and cut out.

    2. Cut pieces of cardstock for sleeves, ribbons for stripes and any other desired designs for the front of the silk (figure A).

    3. Print party details on ivory cardstock. Size the text to be no larger than 4" tall and 2-1/2" wide. Cut out the rectangle (figure B).

    4. To make ribbon corners, apply a small amount of glue to the back of one corner of the rectangle. Place a small scrap of ribbon diagonally across the front of the corner and fold the ends back to meet in the back. Repeat for each corner (figure C).

    5. Glue party details to the inside of the silk, place in an envelope and mail (a 6"x6" square works well but requires additional postage) (figure D).
