Sandi Genovese, senior vice president and creative director for Ellison Craft & Design/Ellison Educational Inc., puts together animated memory-book pages that pop up and have a 3-D feel.

    Materials:
    Scrapbook/album
    Scrapbook pages
    Photographs
    Acid-free paper in assorted colors
Acid-free adhesive, glue stick, photo tape
    Ellison Cut-Outs®
    Stickers
    Press-on letters

    1. Arrange photographs on the page as desired. Save a spot for the 3-D card.
    2. Crop the photos, and mat with colored paper.
    3. Attach photos to the page with adhesive.
    4. Embellish the page with stickers, small die-cut shapes or rubber-stamped designs.
    5. Use Ellison Cut-Outs to create the animated portion of the page.
    Creating Your Own 3-D Card
    1. Cut a card 4 3/4" x 10". Fold in half crosswise, and cut two 1"-long slits in the folded side 1/2" from each side of the center line (figure A). Fold the cut section, or tab, in reverse to the rest of the card.
    2. Cut a contrasting-colored cover for the card, slightly larger than the 3-D card, exposing a colored border all around. Fasten with double-sticking adhesive or a glue stick so that the colored border is visible evenly around the card (figure B).
    3. Decorate the cover with cutouts, photographs and lettering.
    4. Use a photocopy of the photo you intend to place on the inside tabs. Trim and fit the photocopy of your subject for the tab. When you are comfortable with the way the photocopy fits, use it as a guide for cutting the actual photo. Mount with adhesive (figure C).
    5. Use double-sticking adhesive to attach the complete card to the scrapbook page.
    Creating a Hands-Clapping Card
    1. To create the hand card, use Ellison Hand Cut-Outs, or trace and cut two hand outlines.
    2. For the shirt cuff, cut a strip of colored paper folded in half, and attach an end to each hand.
    3. Cut a 4" by 4" piece of paper that's the same color as the hand. Fold in half. Fold a small tab in the opposite direction on each end of the strip, and attach these small folds to the bottom of each hand. This creates a pop-up tab for attaching the child's photo (figure D).
    4. If you don't have a photo, stick a Post-It® note on the tab to indicate photo placement (figure E).
    5. Use double-sticking tape to fasten the bottom hand to the scrapbook page.
    Accordion-Pleated Photos
    1. Cut a strip of paper 4 3/4" by 10", and accordion-fold the paper in the center so that there are three peaks on one side (figure F).
    2. Cut out individuals from photos, and glue them to each accordion fold (figure G).
    Tent-Folded Card
    1. Fold a 4 3/4" by 10" card in half. On the folded edge, fold a triangle toward the bottom of the card so that the fold is parallel to the bottom (figure H).
    2. Unfold and reverse the fold so that a tent fold is created (figure I). Mount the photo to the tent fold (figure J).
