Make a small three-panel wooden screen to hide your appliances from sight and provide a place to tack notes and messages. Materials: Three 16" pieces of 1" x 8" pine lumber Black interior latex paint Wallpaper or pictures to decorate the screen Paintbrush Four small hinges Three 8" x 16" pieces of cork Heavy-duty spray adhesive White glue Small foam brush Craft knife Jigsaw Screwdriver Ruler - Use a jigsaw to cut the top corners off each piece of pine at a 45-degree angle.
- Apply black paint to both sides of the three wooden screen panels and let dry.
- Join the three panels together with two small hinges on each connecting edge (figure A).
- Use a craft knife to cut a piece of cork to fit each panel.
- Spray heavy-duty adhesive on the back of each cork piece, and set in place on the panels (figure B). Top with heavy books overnight to ensure a tight seal.
- Embellish the front of the screen with favorite pictures or wallpaper cutouts and border pieces. Use a foam brush to apply watered-down white glue to the back of the paper cutouts (figure C), and press in place on the screen.
