    Figure C

Make a small three-panel wooden screen to hide your appliances from sight and provide a place to tack notes and messages.

    Materials:

    Three 16" pieces of 1" x 8" pine lumber
    Black interior latex paint
Wallpaper or pictures to decorate the screen
    Paintbrush
    Four small hinges
    Three 8" x 16" pieces of cork
    Heavy-duty spray adhesive
    White glue
    Small foam brush
    Craft knife
    Jigsaw
    Screwdriver
    Ruler

    1. Use a jigsaw to cut the top corners off each piece of pine at a 45-degree angle.

    2. Apply black paint to both sides of the three wooden screen panels and let dry.

    3. Join the three panels together with two small hinges on each connecting edge (figure A).

    4. Use a craft knife to cut a piece of cork to fit each panel.

    5. Spray heavy-duty adhesive on the back of each cork piece, and set in place on the panels (figure B). Top with heavy books overnight to ensure a tight seal.

    6. Embellish the front of the screen with favorite pictures or wallpaper cutouts and border pieces. Use a foam brush to apply watered-down white glue to the back of the paper cutouts (figure C), and press in place on the screen.
