    Layered Button Rings and Pins

    Old buttons are the key ingredient to these fun but distinctive rings and pins.

    Button Rings and Pins
    Elastic Button Rings

    Materials:

    3" piece of black 1/2"-wide elastic
    2 fun buttons different sizes
    embroidery floss
    needle
    scissors
    pin

    1. Layer the buttons on top of one another with the smallest button on top (figure A).

    2. Use embroidery floss to stitch buttons to the center of the elastic (figure B).

    3. Size the ring by wrapping the elastic around your finger and pinning the seam where it fits most comfortably (figure C). Stitch the ring together by hand (figure D).

    Button Rings

    Materials:

    1 adjustable ring blank
    2-4 fun buttons of different sizes
    E6000 glue
    scrap of waxed paper
    small cardboard box or egg carton

    1. Cut a small slit in the cardboard box or egg carton and place the band part of the ring in the slit (the slit will also be used as a drying rack). Layer the buttons on top of one another with the smallest one on top; glue in place and let dry (figure E) (figure F).

    Button Pins

    Materials:

    1 pin back
    6 fun buttons of different sizes
    E6000 glue
    scrap of waxed paper
    small cardboard box or egg carton

    1. Layer the buttons on top of each other with the smallest one on top and glue in place. Place on waxed paper to dry.

    2. Separate the pin from the pin back (figure G). Cut a small slit in the box or carton and place the pin back in the slit (the slit will also be used as a drying rack). Glue the button stack to the pin back base (figure H). Place pin back in the drying rack to dry (figure I).
