Most people are satisfied with one or two collections of favorite things. Not artist Karen Wyse, whose home is filled inside and out with art, artifacts, textiles, sculpture, beads and more. She has no set plan for placing the pieces -- just intuition -- and recommends playing around "till you get it right." Karen's home is filled with paintings, masks and artifacts mounted on colored walls -- red, violet, green or yellow -- that provide a suitable backdrop for each piece (figure A). Inspired by a beaded curtain that caught her attention while she dined in a Chinese restaurant, she has beaded all manner of stuff to create a set of fabulous curtains that enclose a reading area complete with a comfy chair, a table and a lamp (figure B). Shells, buttons and even strands of pumpkin seeds (figure C) are also part of the curtain. Each piece is knotted in place. Color is everywhere in this home, with colorful textiles on the couch and even on the floors, which are covered with a patchwork of highly patterned rugs (figure D).
