Each shelf in James D. Simone's garage "museum" displays a particular year of production. The collection extends from the first year of production to the newest models.

During the late 1960s, the manufacturer of G.I. Joe marketed nurse, race-car driver and Canadian Mountie figures -- anything to divert attention from the controversy surrounding the military during the Vietnam War. Collector James D. Simone owns them all. "Kid at heart" Simone collects and displays all of his dolls and accessories on a different shelf -- the collection is so extensive, it takes up his entire garage. Simone extends his enthusiasm and knowledge to others. With three books to his credit, his own collectors club and newsletter publication, he continues to earn the title awarded to him by the Hasbro toy company: "#1 G.I. Joe Fan."
