    This button is a vintage piece that has been given an elaborate update with glass beads.

    To create buttons out of a vintage textile, purchase a button-covering kit (figure A).

    1. Using the cardboard pattern provided, position the pattern over an area of embroidery that you like, trace around it (figure B) and cut it out.

    2. Using the same pattern, cut an underlining out of white cotton batiste or linen.

    3. With the embroidered circle on top of the underlining circle, run a line of basting stitches around the circle's perimeter, 1/8" from the edge (figure C).

    4. Draw up the thread around the button form and add the backing.

    5. Make the required number of buttons and sew them to the completed blouse.
