    Figure A

Tired of just babysitting for the summer? Try earning some extra cash with a project that's fun to do! Joe Lamancusa has written a book with great ideas for turning crafts into cash and other clever ways for kids to make money.

    • Lamancusa says when starting out you don't need to invest a lot of money in supplies. He suggests making samples of your craft and then selling them. This will give you an idea of what kind of market is out there for the product.

    • Use flyers to advertise your job or product. Distributing flyers will let friends and family know what you're selling. Flyers should provide information about the job or product. Lamancusa mentions taking flyers to schools to let parents know you have a great product to sell.

    • One craft that's mentioned in the book is shirt decorating. All you need is to tape the lettering of a name on a shirt, spray-paint the entire shirt with fabric paint, and when the paint has dried pull off the tape. You now have an impressive personalized shirt (figure A).
