Put your little artist to work with a project that lets the imagination go wild. Carol Duvall, host of HGTV's The Carol Duvall Show, explains how to make a T-shirt kids can recolor after every washing. Materials: Cotton-blend T-shirt Dimensional fabric paint in black Crayola&$174; Washable Crayons Pencil Coloring-book-style picture Iron - Start with a white 50/50 cotton-and-polyester blend T-shirt.
- Choose a coloring-book-style line drawing, and lightly draw it on the front of the T-shirt with a pencil (figure A).
- Using black fabric paint, follow over the pencil lines. Let dry (figure B).
- When the black paint is completely dry, turn the shirt inside out and iron it to heat set.
- Let the T-shirt cool, and have kids color in the picture with Crayola Washable Crayons (figure C).
Tips: - All-cotton T-shirts will work, but the results are better with a 50/50 blend. When the shirt is ready to wash, launder separately in hot water with regular detergent; avoid using bleach. The crayon marks and colors will come off, and kids can start all over again.
