    This skirt features a narrow, elasticized waist tie, cut on the bias (figure A). Here's how to make it.

    1. Sew the waistband together at the short ends.

    2. Fold and press over long end.

    3. Pin and sew the waistband to skirt (figure B).

    4. Fold and press other long end over and pin.

    5. Stitch in the ditch on the top side of the waistband (figure C).

    6. Draw the elastic through the casing and tack it down at each end (figure D ).

    7. Sew the ties closed.
