    Materials:

    Leotard (black or pink)
    Tights (gold or pink lurex)
Black and orange striped high socks for witch
16 yards of tulle in black or pink
4 satin flowers, black or pink
    Black taffeta witch's hat
    3 yards 2" ribbon
    Scissors
    Sewing machine
    Craft wire

    1. Use about 10 yards of tulle (very fine net fabric) for the skirt that should have 4-6 uneven layers. Baste at the waist with a running stitch and heavy thread. Pull up to the waist measurement and pin to the satin ribbon in the center. Sew the tulle to the ribbon (figure A). The skirt is now ready. Just wrap it around and tie it in the front making a bow.

    2. For the fairy costume: Make a big fat loose bow with the remaining tulle and tack it to the back of the leotard (figure B). Fluff up the 2 loops and tack their top ends to the shoulders. Trim the excess from the ends and the fairy's wings are complete.

    3. Shape a crown of craft wire, cover it with some ribbon, and hot glue or tack matching satin flowers (figure C).

    4. For the witch costume: Cut the remaining tulle in half lengthwise. Wrap and tie 1 piece around the crown of the hat and allow the ends to hang down in the back. Twist the second piece and set it to the neck of the leotard (figure D). Tie the ends loosely in the back and allow them to hang. Cut the excess tulle in the back when you fit the costume. Tack satin flowers to the neckline and the hat.

    5. Dress the witch in black leotard, shiny tights, and bright striped socks (figure E), black tulle skirt, and witch's hat.

    6. Dress the fairy in pink leotard, pink shiny tights, pink tulle skirt and crown.
Note: You can use whatever colors you like.

Products: Leotards and tights are available at dance supply stores; witch's hat from a costume or party store, and all other supplies from the fabric store.
