Fishing expert Dave Workman and the DIY Kids explain how to prepare fishing poles for a fishing adventure. Have your hat, sunglasses and sunscreen ready for a day of outdoor fun.
Materials:
Cane pole
Rig: 15' of fishing line and a cork or bobber
Fishhooks
Jighead
Rubber grubs
Spinner
- Secure the two pieces of your cane pole together (figure A).
- Use your rig, approximately 15' of fishing line and a cork or bobber (figure B) to prepare your pole for fishing.
- Take the fishing line, and thread it through the eye or top of the cane pole (figure C). Wrap the line around itself several times and thread it back through the eye to tie the line to the pole (figure D).
- Place the cork or bobber on the line, toward the end, so the bobber sits above the water with enough line for the end of the hook to float freely under the water (figure E).
- Prepare the hook or jighead (figure F) by carefully sliding a rubber grub onto the hook (figure G) until the end of the hook is exposed (figure H ).
- Add a spinner to the hook by putting the spinner through the hole in the top of the jighead (figure I), bringing the end of the spinner around, and snapping it closed (figure J).
- Tie the completed hook to the end of your fishing line (figure K).
