Comics have evolved over the years from good vs. evil heroics to darker, edgier storylines -- like those found in Sandman.

Corey Baham says comic books combine the best graphic elements with the drama of movie storylines. Baham, whose extensive collection numbers over 7,000, says it's important to collect not just for potential value, but for the love of a good adventure and well-developed characters. Baham advises collectors to use bags and support bags to protect comics, and to use special acid-free boxes sized to hold 300 comics. While most comics cost around $3 each today, classic comics -- like the first edition of Batman -- can sell for a few hundred dollars to $100,000.
