Jennifer Perkins and Leah Kramer transform light bulbs into novel ornamental treasures with paint, ribbon, yarn, beads and sequins.
Materials:10 light bulbs 4 sets of spring clamps red, green, purple, black, gold, silver acrylic paint 4 large paintbrushes gold ribbon green yarn gold metallic craft cord shiny beads retro-style geometric gold sequins ornament hooks glue gun and glue white glue
Steps: - Paint bulbs with acrylic paint (figure A). Use spring clamps to hold the bulb while painting.
- Wrap a piece of craft wire a few times around the metal end of the bulb. Make a loop with the wire and wrap it around the base.
- Spiral cord tightly around the metal end of the light bulb and tie a ribbon or loop on the end and glue.
- Glue on desired embellishments (figure B). Beads and sequins make good embellishments. Costume jewelry pieces from thrift shops also make great embellishments.
