Wiring the Lamp- Cut the legs off as close as possible to the board with wire cutters (figure A).
- Cut and strip one inch of the wire from the power adapter. Separate the two wires from one another.
- Tape the wires three inches apart onto a hard surface. Attach one alligator clip to each wire.
- Attach one leg of the resistor to the other end of the alligator clip from one of the wires.
- Attach one leg of the LED to the other end of the alligator clip from the other wire.
- Attach another alligator clip connecting the other leg of the resistor to the other leg of the LED (figure B). The circuit is now complete.
- Plug in the power cord. If the LED turns on (figure C), determine which is the long leg (positive leg) of your LED. The wire connected to that leg is your positive wire. If the LED does not turn on, unplug the power adapter and flip the direction of the LED and plug it back in.
- Once you have determined the positive power, place a small piece of tape around that wire.
- If you are familiar with voltmeters, use a voltmeter to determine the positive and neutral wires.
