This is just one example of the pet bowls the DIY kids decorated with paint pens.

    Materials:

    2 white china bowls
    China paint pens
    Newspaper
    Oven
    Cookie sheet
    Oven mitts
    1 adult

    1. Spread out newspaper to cover the work surface.

    2. Draw a design on the bowls. These pens are simple to draw with and make it easy to create a more complex design if you wish. We chose designs that complemented our pet. For a dog, we made bones, pawprints and "woofs." For a cat, we drew fishes and "meow."

    3. Let the bowls air-dry for 24 hours.

    4. Bake in an oven at 300 degrees for 35 minutes. Safety Alert: Always have an adult present when working with an oven.

    Tip:

    • Read the porcelain-pen manufacturer's directions, precautions and care instructions first.

Products: All products available at craft, art-supply, and all-purpose stores nationwide.
