    Materials:

2 old towels -- ask first!
    Scissors
    An old belt
Paint -- either fabric or acrylic
    A paintbrush
    Hot glue
    Velcro
    A yardstick
    Craft sticks

    1. Cut two long ovals out of a towel (figure A) that are as long as your waist down to the top of your foot. Shake to get the loose towel lint off.

    2. Hot glue the edges all the way around each leg to keep the towel from raveling. Turn it under about one-half inch. Use a craft stick to push the fabric down as you go (figure B).

    3. Put the belt on over your clothes and mark the two front points where the panels should start to be glued (figure C).

    4. Cut two strips of towel, about 3 to 5 inches long. These will fit behind your thigh. Hot glue one piece to each side of the leg. Now, cut and hot glue a piece of Velcro on each strip so that it will close when you overlap them. Flip one piece over and glue the Velcro on the backside (figure D).

    5. Paint cow spots on your chaps (figure E) or other decoration as desired.

    6. Hot glue the chaps onto your belt (figure F).

    Tips:

    • Have an adult supervise when you are using scissors -- they can be sharp!

    • Ask an adult's permission before you start cutting up towels from the linen closet.
