    Materials:

    Muslin fabric or large sheet
    Fabri
    c glue
    YarnClothespins
    Colored markers
    Fabric scissors
    Permanent markers
    Fiberfill
    Dowel rod
    Some of your clothes

    1. Fold the fabric in half and lie down on it.

    2. Have a friend trace the outline of your body, keeping the outline loose and big (figure A).

    3. Cut out the outline (figure B). You should have two identical pieces.

    4. Use fabric glue to glue the seams (figure C), leaving an opening on one side of the "stomach." Let glue dry two to three hours. Try to be neat when gluing so your seams will be cleaner.

    5. Turn your buddy right side out and stuff with fiberfill. Use the dowel rod to stuff the fiberfill into the arms and legs (figure D).

    6. Glue the rest of your buddy shut. Clamp the seam with clothespins until the glue is dry.

    7. Decorate by adding hair, drawing on a face, and dressing the figure in your clothes. You can make a short "wig" with the yarn by wrapping it around a cereal box a bunch of times (figure E), about a hundred or so. Then tie it together tight, slide it off the box, and cut the loops open to create loose strands of hair. (Try multiple colors of yarn for a cool effect.) Glue the hair onto the buddy and let it dry for five hours.

    Tips:

    • Glue Buddy together on a surface that can be easily cleaned -- this part can be messy. Ask an adult to suggest the best place -- maybe the kitchen floor.

    • Have an adult supervise when using sharp tools.

    • If some places are really tight and bunchy, like under the arms or between the legs, you can very carefully snip the fabric seam to allow for easement and a smoother look. DO NOT CUT THROUGH THE STITCHING!

All products can be purchased at craft and all-purpose stores nationwide.
