    Materials:

    1/8" craft foam
    Compass
    Scissors
    Markers
    Pencil or tongue depressors
    Cardstock
    Hot glue
    Ruler

    1. Measure (figure A) and cut two circles that are about 8 inches to 12 inches in diameter out of the 1/8-inch craft foam.

    2. Measure and cut a circle of cardstock that is one inch smaller in diameter than your craft-foam circle (figure B) . If the cardboard is flimsy, cut two circles and glue together.

    3. Sandwich cardstock between craft foam and hot-glue everything together (figure C).

    4. Seal the craft foam edges to each other for a finished look (figure D).

    5. Cut two straps out of the craft foam about 1 inch by 8 inches.

    6. Using a fairly generous blob of glue, hot-glue the straps on the back, leaving a little pucker (figure E) so your hand has room to slide in. Use a pencil or tongue depressor to help press foam into the hot glue so you don't get burned. Let glue cool completely before handling.

    7. Decorate the front of the paddle.

    8. Make a second paddle. Now find a ball and a friend to play your own version of paddleball.

Tip: Always have an adult supervise when you are using hot glue and any sharp tools.

All products can be purchased at craft and all-purpose stores nationwide.
