    Materials:

    8 wood slats, 1/2" x 2" x 12"
    Medium-size towel
    Eight 1-1/4" bolts and nuts
    Eight 1-1/2" fender washers
    Spring clamps
    Eight upholstery tacks
    Heavy shelf liner
    Drill with bits
    Two nylon strips, 18" x 1"
    Masking tape
    Screwdrivers
    Trim saw and miter box
    Pliers
    Pencil
    Hot glue
    Scissors
    Hammer

    1. Measure and cut eight pieces of wood, 1/2 inch by 2 inches by 12 inches (figure A).

    2. Measure and cut a medium-size towel to 26 inches in length.

    3. Hot-glue two pieces of shelf liner together so that they equal the width and length of the towel.

    4. Layer the materials along the outside edge of towel as follows: wood slat, towel, shelf liner, wood slat. You will have four sections (figure B).

    5. Fold all materials a half-turn into shelf liner and clamp together to hold (figure C).

    6. Drill two holes, approximately 2 inches from each end, all the way through the rolled wood slats (figure D). Be careful when drilling through front of towel so that the drill does not grab the fabric and rip it.

    7. On the front side of fabric, insert a screw bolt through a washer and then through the slats. Add another washer on the back of bolt (figure E).

    8. Using a screwdriver and pliers, add a nut to the back of the bolt and tighten.

    9. Repeat for other three sections.

    10. Measure and cut two strips of nylon strap 18 inches long.

    11. Using upholstery tacks, fasten the strap to the edges of top and bottom slats (figure F) on each side. This will act as a stop and give you something to lean against when you sit in your chair.

    Tips:
