Materials: 1 bar of glycerin soap Food coloring Cooking spray Mixing cup with spout and handle Knife Cutting board Microwave A soap or candy mold Mixing spoon - Spray molds lightly with cooking spray (figure A).
- Cut five cubes of glycerin soap (figure B) and place in microwave-safe mixing cup.
- Microwave for 30 to 50 seconds, until soap is melted. If this time is not sufficient, continue heating in 10-second increments. Some microwaves may vary on the amount of time required.
Safety alert: Never leave soap unattended while it's melting! - Add food coloring and stir.
- Pour into molds (figure C) and let cool for at least one hour, or until firm. (Be careful when pouring the melted soap: it's HOT!)
- Pop out of molds.
Tips: - Always have an adult supervise when using hot liquids, sharp objects or appliances.
- Plastic mixing cup should be microwave-proof.
- Recommended molds for use are the plastic-tray variety.
All products can be purchased at craft and general all-purpose stores.
