    Materials:

    1 bar of glycerin soap
    Food coloring
    Cooking spray
Mixing cup with spout and handle
    Knife
    Cutting board
    Microwave
    A soap or candy mold
    Mixing spoon

    1. Spray molds lightly with cooking spray (figure A).

    2. Cut five cubes of glycerin soap (figure B) and place in microwave-safe mixing cup.

    3. Microwave for 30 to 50 seconds, until soap is melted. If this time is not sufficient, continue heating in 10-second increments. Some microwaves may vary on the amount of time required.

Safety alert: Never leave soap unattended while it's melting!

    4. Add food coloring and stir.

    5. Pour into molds (figure C) and let cool for at least one hour, or until firm. (Be careful when pouring the melted soap: it's HOT!)

    6. Pop out of molds.

    Tips:

    • Always have an adult supervise when using hot liquids, sharp objects or appliances.

    • Plastic mixing cup should be microwave-proof.

    • Recommended molds for use are the plastic-tray variety.

All products can be purchased at craft and general all-purpose stores.
