Materials: Plastic switchplate covers Hot glue Baubles Spray shellac Waxed paper Brush Tongue depressors Ruler Acrylic paint Puffy paint or paint pens - Place the plate on waxed paper to protect your work surface.
- Paint a design on your plate with acrylic paint (figure A), paint pens or puffy paint.
- Let it dry.
- Hot-glue on baubles (figure B) as you like. Be careful of the glue -- it's hot!
- Go outdoors, and spray with shellac to seal.
Tips: - Don't forget as you decorate to leave the screw holes open so you can hang your switchplate.
- Always have an adult supervise when you take down or put up switchplates. Never remove the plates without adult supervision -- electricity can be dangerous.
- For our baubles we used decorative erasers, but you could use small plastic toys, etc.
- Never use spray paint or spray shellac indoors -- always spray outdoors where there is good ventilation. Inhaling fumes can be harmful.
Products are available at craft and hardware stores nationwide.
