If you like collecting things from nature, you may need a nature box. This one is simple to make. DIY Kids host Kent Lindsey and the DIY Kids explain how to make an easy nature box that looks fabulous.

    Materials:

    Sturdy box

    Gesso art base

    Craft glue

    Acrylic paint

    Spongy paintbrushes

    Natural collectibles

    1. Choose a sturdy box, such as a leftover candy or cigar box (figure A).

    2. Pull off any loose paper, and paint the box with gesso to create a smooth base to paint on. Gesso is an art base you find at craft stores (figure B). Let it dry.

    3. Select one or two bright colors, and paint your nature box with them, inside and out (figure C).

    4. A second coat of color gives a professional look (figure D).

    5. When the nature box is completely dry, decorate it by gluing collectibles on the lid (figure E). Or paint a design that reminds you of nature (figure F).

    6. A nature box is the perfect place to keep a nature collection (figure G).
