This type of fire extinguisher is labeled ABC, and it can be used for wood, petroleum and electrical fires.

Fire extinguishers are labeled to tell you which type of fire it should be used for. There are four separate types, but some extinguishers may combine two or more.

    • Class "A" -- wood or paper fire

    • Class "B" -- petroleum fire

    • Class "C" -- electrical fire

    • Class "D" -- metal fire

It's a good idea to mount your fire extinguisher in a convenient place on your boat so that anyone can get to it in an emergency. Also, don't forget to check the expiration date for replacement.
