To join two pieces of pressed-plate metal, overlap and nail through the "bead."

DIY Decorating and Design host Nancy Golden gives information on types of pressed-plate metals, their uses and how to work with them. - Sheet pressed metal: comes in large sheets; good for use behind a stove or as a backsplash.
- Crown molding: can be used at the ceiling to add interest and elegance.
- To work with pressed-plate metals, wear gloves -- the metal can be very sharp! Cut with tin snips, which work like scissors.
- There are several finishes available: antique and shiny brass, stainless steel, chrome, painted, copper. Nails are available in the same colors.
- To join two sheets, overlap them and nail directly into the "bead."
