This fabric-trimmed dry sink is as attractive open as closed.

Nancy Golden, host of DIY's Decorating and Design, decorates a wall-mounted dry sink with fabric.

    Materials:

    Wooden dry sink
    Fabric
    Tape measure
Two sash rods and mounting hardware
    Drill
    Glasses
    Fusible tape
    Iron
    Spray adhesive (optional)

    1. If you wish, remove the door from the dry sink.

    2. Wearing eye protection, use a drill to attach the mounting brackets to the inside of the door. Place the ones at the top so that the little hooks face up and the ones at the bottom so that they face down.

    3. Measure the width and length of the door, doubling the width and adding 3" to the length (this will allow 1-1/2" at each end for a rod pocket). Cut the fabric to these dimensions.

    4. Press fusible tape to the top and bottom of the panel. Peel the paper covering from the tape, fold the fabric and press again to create a rod pocket at each end (be sure to fold down enough to leave an opening for the rod).

    5. Run a rod through each pocket.

    6. Mount the rods on the brackets (each end of a rod has a small hole that fits over the hook on the brackets). Arrange the gathers evenly.

    7. If desired, cut pieces of fabric to fit inside the shelves and attach with spray adhesive.
