  • Quick Tip: Installing an Anti-Scald Device
  • From "Ask DIY"
    episode ADI-307
    advertisement

Does the water flow in your shower suddenly escalate to a panifully high temperature when someone turns on the sink or flushes the toilet? If this is a problem in your home, there's any easy way to solve it: Install an anti-scald shower device. This will temporarily cut off the water running from the shower head if it reaches 120 degrees.

    1. First, remove the existing shower head from the shower arm using slip-joint pliers. Wrap tape around the jaws of the pliers before applying pressure to the shower head to avoid scratching the chrome finish.

    2. Then wrap Teflon tape around the threaded end of the shower arm and screw the anti-scald device in place.

    3. Now wrap Teflon tape around the threads on the end of the device and screw the shower head onto the taped threads.

      What could be simpler?
