Carpenter and craftsman Carter Oosterhouse began learning his skills at the age of 11, apprenticing with his master carpenter neighbor. He began working with his brothers who are also carpenters and honed his craft in construction while pursuing a career in television and film. Combining these two, Carter works to make the "impossible" possible by using his extensive building and carpentry skills to solve homeowners' most challenging renovation dilemmas. With a personal interest in eco-friendly building, Carter incorporates "green" solutions offering design alternatives that conserve energy and reduce environmental waste. Carter looks a lot more like a model than the guy who puts up drywall. Shooting to fame as the carpenter in a popular series, he has also been a contributing correspondent for the No. 1 morning show, NBCs TODAY, and the face of Nauticas popular new mens fragrance Nautica Voyage. People magazine took notice as well, featuring him in the November 2003 "Sexiest Man Alive" issue. In 2006, Carter was a contributor on NBCs Three Wishes with co-host Grammy Award-winner Amy Grant. Born and raised in Traverse City, Mich., Carter is the youngest of four children. A natural athlete, he excels in sports and attended Central Michigan University on a rugby scholarship. He continues to be an avid sports enthusiast counting basketball, kayaking, hockey, sailing, baseball and rugby among his favorites. Carter also lends his spare time to several children's charities, including New York's Books for Kids, Coach for Kids and the Fulfillment Fund in Los Angeles.
