  • WHO’S YOUR DIY DADDY? CELEBRATE FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND WITH DIY NETWORK BY BUILDING A TREE HOUSE, CREATING A MAN CAVE & MORE!

  • Knoxville, Tenn – June 2007 – Honor thy father and the male role models in your life with DIY Network’s first "Who’s Your DIY Daddy?" celebration this Father’s Day weekend! Make papa feel extra special this year by setting him up with his favorite snacks and turn the tube to DIY Network.

DIY makes it all about "daddy" with a showcase of more than 40 hours of home improvement programming. Let him know he’s your DIY Daddy as he also tunes into the premiere of two of the network’s new limited series, Man Caves and Project Treehouse. From creating a guy’s only place to a hideaway in the sky and more, "pops" is sure to love DIY’s projects!

"Tackling projects around the house is how a DIY dad relaxes and unwinds," said Freddy James, DIY Network’s vice president of programming. "This Father’s Day you can celebrate your dad by busting out his favorite foods and leaving him alone in his man cave. There's no better Father's Day gift than the gift of cool ideas and tips for his next home improvement project!"

National Football League veteran Tony "The Goose" Siragusa knows that every man needs a place to call his own and he plays "DIY Daddy" to Boston-area homeowner Larry Cannalonga and his college buddies (they call themselves The 508) on Saturday, June 16. Beginning at 1 p.m. ET, DIY premieres five back-to-back, half-hour episodes of DIY’s Man Caves. The Goose along with DIY home improvement expert Cameron give fatherly advice and help transform Cannalonga’s raw basement into the perfect space "just for men." They offer ideas and do-it-yourself instructions to turn the most basic basement into the ultimate "man cave" – complete with a sports bar, poker room, personal gym and home theater. And on Father’s Day, get more of The Goose during the premiere of the one-hour Man Caves special at 9 p.m. ET.

Siragusa is the perfect DIY Daddy. When asked about being a Man Caves expert, he said, "I’m here to help Larry and the guys of the 508 become men in their man cave."

Every DIY Daddy says he needs a "man cave," but what guy doesn’t grow up wanting a tree house! On Father’s Day, the debut of DIY’s limited series Project Treehouse gives all DIY daddies an opportunity to give themselves another great gift – a step-by-step look at how to build a tree house. DIY’s tree house builder extraordinaire B'fer Roth brings a father and son team together for the best bonding ever. Among the leaves and the trees, Lynn and Adam Bumgardner construct a high-in-the-sky haven from the branches up! A marathon of DIY’s Project Treehouse airs on Sunday, June 17 from 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET.

Man caves and tree houses aren’t the only projects to be featured during DIY Network’s, "Who’s Your DIY Daddy?" weekend. Popular DIY programs, such as Rock Solid, Wasted Spaces, Bathroom Renovations, Kitchen Renovations, and Freeform Furniture feature a gamut of home improvement projects for fathers everywhere! And DIY experts like Amy Devers, Amy Matthews, Karl Champley and Paul Ryan provide simple how-to instructions for dad’s favorite projects, including building a deck, renovating a log cabin, installing an outdoor stone bar and grill, creating a custom-made mantel and more!

Throughout the weekend, dad can also turn to DIY for his all-time favorite home improvement programs: This Old House, Bob Vila’s Home Again and The New Yankee Workshop. He’ll get the best ideas for his upcoming remodeling or furniture-making endeavor straight from the forefathers of the home improvement movement – Bob Vila and Norm Abram!
