  • DIY NETWORK'S "READY AS HE GROWS" AND "READY AS SHE GROWS" HELPS PARENTS TRANSFORM THEIR CHILDRENS' BEDROOMS AS THEY GROW FROM INFANCY TO ADOLESCENCE

  • Knoxville, Tenn – May, 2006 – Ready as He Grows, debuting July 10 at 7pm ET/PT (with new episodes premiering every day through Friday) and Ready as She Grows, starting July 17 at 7pm ET/PT (with new episodes premiering every day through Friday), each follow one child through five different stages of life with five different bedroom transformations throughout the years. The workshops show parents how to match their child’s needs and styles at different ages with designs that won’t break the bank or fray nerves.

Each transformation on Ready as He/She Grows is framed in the context of beginning a new school year, changing a child’s personal space to coincide with transitions in lifestyle. Co-hosts Jack Hourigan, (well-known female host from Food Network’s How to Boil Water) and Steven Eyerman (an interior designer from HGTV’s Room by Room) pool their expertise and put practicality and personality together to help homeowners create unique bedrooms for every stage of childhood.

A number of design elements are demonstrated in the room makeovers, including painting techniques, and easy-to-make furniture and decorating pieces. In Ready as He Grows, watch as the room is transformed from baby-boy-blue into fireman-red, and ultimately renovated into a rock'n roll haven. In Ready as She Grows, we begin with "just peachy" and move through play land and privates spaces to a room with a dual purpose.

"Summer is a great time to make a project out of decorating a room and what a perfect way to spend some quality time with your child," says Hourigan. "Make it a fun process of picking colors and looking at magazines to decide how your child’s personality can become a part of their room."

"A child's room is an expression of who they are, but it also has to serve a number of functions," said Eyerman. "In addition to being a haven, it also needs to be a workspace, storage for their personal collections and an extension of their interests. On the show, we show parents how you can have all of these things in the rooms."

For information on each of the rooms in the two workshops, as well as instruction on the projects, parents can go to DIYnetwork.com.
