"If opening your closet door invites an avalanche or if your car is exiled to the driveway because your garage is stacked sky high with stuff, then you could be who we're looking for," said DIY's General Manager Kathleen Finch. "If this is you -- or someone you know -- send us a video showing those miles of piles -- because DIY Network is searching for America's Biggest Pack Rat!"
The winner will appear on DIY's new television series, Wasted Spaces. Nine out of 10 people complain they don't have enough room in their home, but most homeowners simply lack the trained eye to identify areas of wasted space. Add a wine cabinet under the stairs, a library of shelves overhead, or even hide the toy box in the wall to conceal the clutter. Building consultant and Wasted Spaces host Karl Champley will work to find and build unique organizing opportunities in the winner's home.
DIY's Wasted Spaces is currently in production and will premiere in February 2007. The series shows real people how to make the most of unused spaces in their homes giving whole new meaning and a much better look to filling every nook and cranny. If you'd like to enter the cluttered home of your friend or loved one, visit DIYnetwork.com starting April 14 to get complete details and an entry form. Videos will be accepted up until a June 30, 2006 postmark.
